Come for the ski weekend.
Book the October one before you leave.

Stowe does not switch off when the snow melts. The people who come once for the skiing tend to come back for something else.

The same house, without the platform's cut.

The lowest price for this house is on this page. Not on Airbnb, not on Booking.com, not anywhere else. Listing sites take a commission and their prices carry it; this rate does not. Pull up the same dates on Airbnb and compare — it is the easiest claim here to check.

You are talking to the owners

Not a call centre and not a message relay. Ask a question before you arrive and the answer comes from the people who know the house — which is why communication scores 4.98 out of 5.

Flexible on the things that matter

Late checkout, an extra dog, a question about the kitchen before you arrive. Easier to say yes when there is no platform in the middle.

Your dates are held in the same calendar

The booking engine reads the same availability as every listing site, so there is no risk of a double booking.

Our rates are dynamic — they move with demand, season and how far ahead you book — so the total above is your number, not ours. The comparison uses the gap we currently run between this page and the listing sites. Fees and Vermont lodging tax apply either way and are not included above. Your real total is confirmed in the calendar.

Over three thousand square feet, and three rooms to disappear into.

A farmhouse built in 1820 and restored without stripping the character out of it — wide plank floors, a wood-burning fireplace, an eight-seat dining room. The thing groups mention most is that nobody has to share a sofa.

Eight minutes to dinner. Ten to the lift.

3376 Mountain Road, Stowe, Vermont

Mountain Road is the spine of Stowe. Sit at one end and you are far from the restaurants; sit at the other and you are far from the lifts. The 1820 House sits in the middle.

Park on arrival. In winter, most guests do not touch the car again until checkout.

Questions we actually get asked.

Is it really cheaper to book direct?
Yes. The rate on this page has nothing added to it. Listing sites charge a commission on every booking and their prices carry that cost; ours does not. The quickest way to settle it is to open the same dates on Airbnb and compare the totals side by side.
How far is the mountain, honestly?
About ten minutes by car to Stowe Mountain Resort. In ski season the free Mountain Road shuttle stops about a hundred feet up the road and runs both directions all day, which means most groups park once on Friday and do not move the car until they leave. Check the current timetable before you travel — the service changed operator for the 2026-27 season.
Where do we catch the shuttle?
In ski season, you board right by the property line going up to the mountain, and across the street by the Talta Lodge driveway going down to the village. See the full shuttle guide for dates, stops and the map.
Can we bring a dog?
Yes. The house is genuinely dog friendly, not grudgingly dog friendly, and the lot is large. Dogs stay free. Please tell us at booking so we can plan the clean.
Does the house work for babies and grandparents?
Yes. Whole families often book the house together, and multi-generation trips are especially common in ski season. There's a Pack 'n Play for little ones. It isn't baby-proofed, the hot tub has no gate, and all the bedrooms are upstairs, so plan around those.
How many can actually sleep here comfortably?
Ten, across four bedrooms: a king, a queen, a queen with two twins, and a queen with a sofa. Two and a half bathrooms. There are also three separate living areas, which is the part guests mention most — one group can watch a game while another talks.
What is the minimum stay?
Two nights as standard. Holiday and peak foliage weekends carry a longer minimum. The booking calendar will show the real minimum for your dates.
Is this a winter-only house?
No — and that is the most common misconception. Summer brings the Rec Path, hiking, mountain biking, swimming holes and Smugglers' Notch; foliage season in late September and October is the fastest window to sell out. Winter is busiest, but the house works in three seasons.
What is your cancellation policy?
Book direct and you can cancel free until 14 days before arrival. The exact terms for your dates are shown before you pay. Bookings made on other sites follow that site's policy.
What is there to do in summer?
Walk or bike the Stowe Recreation Path from across the road. Hike Stowe Pinnacle or the Long Trail on Mount Mansfield, ride the mountain bike trails at Cady Hill Forest, cool off at a swimming hole, and drive through Smugglers' Notch. The Sunday farmers market sets up across the road.
Do we need a car?
Yes, a car is the easiest way to get here, because rideshares are not consistently available in Stowe. In ski season, many groups then leave it parked and use the free shuttle.
Can we walk to restaurants?
Salute, The Round Hearth and Talta Lodge are nearby. Mountain Road does not have a continuous sidewalk, so driving is safer after dark or in poor weather.
Is there air conditioning?
There is no central air. Each upstairs bedroom has a window or portable unit, and larger window units serve the main living areas downstairs.
Can we check in early?
Sometimes, depending on the prior reservation and the cleaning schedule. It is never guaranteed, but you are welcome to ask. Check-in begins at 4 PM.
What do we have to do at checkout?
Very little. Put used dishes in the dishwasher, take trash and recycling to the bins in the attached garage, return the key to the lockbox, lock the door and send us a quick message. There is no need to strip beds or clean.
